In loving memory of

Luna

Golden Retriever · 2012 – 2026

Luna arrived on an April morning in 2012, small enough to sleep in a shoebox and already certain the world was good. For fourteen years she proved it. She was first to the door and last to leave your side — through new jobs, a wedding, two moves and one very long winter, her head always found the exact spot on a knee where worry lives, and stayed until it left.

She loved snow more than any creature we have ever known, the sea almost as much, and tennis balls beyond all reason. She never learned that seagulls cannot be caught, and we never had the heart to tell her.

On her last evening she lay in the garden while the light turned gold, and we told her what she already knew: that she was a good girl, the very best, and that love like hers does not end. Run ahead, sweet girl. We will catch up.

Somewhere there's a beach with endless tennis balls and very slow seagulls, and she's already there. You gave her a wonderful life, and she knew it.

Lighting a candle for the goldenest girl. She had the softest ears and the biggest heart. Thank you for sharing her story — it made me cry and smile at the same time.

I only met Luna twice, and the second time she greeted me like an old friend she'd been expecting all along. That says everything about her. Sending you all so much love.

The best welcome committee any house ever had. Running free now, girl.

Fourteen years of pure sunshine. I'll never forget how she'd be waiting at the gate every summer when we came to visit, tail going like a metronome. Rest easy, sweet Luna.
